About Us
Empowering Young Musicians Through Collaboration
The Griffith Combined Schools Band was founded out of a passion for music and a desire to create a collaborative environment for young musicians. Recognizing the lack of access to quality music programs in the region, Griffith East Public School (GEPS) teacher Mr. Rhys Thomas initiated GCSB to provide opportunities for students to learn and perform together. What began as a small group of enthusiastic students has now expanded to 60 members across three ensembles, reflecting the growing interest in music education within the community.
GCSB proudly serves students from various local schools in Griffith, providing them with opportunities to develop their musical abilities in a supportive environment. The band has successfully catered to a diverse range of young musicians, fostering their talents and building a strong sense of community. Through their participation, families experience the joys of music, while students develop valuable life skills and lasting friendships.
